Final ban blow for Cliftonville duo

Published 02/05/2009

Cliftonville have been hit with a double blow ahead of next Saturday’s Irish Cup final.

Eddie Patterson will be without two of his key men, with George McMullan and Mark Holland hit with suspensions in the latest list released by the IFA, meaning that they join Crusaders defender David Magowan in missing the showpiece decider.

McMullan faces a three-game ban while Holland is suspended for two matches. The punishments kick-in on Monday, ruling them out of the north-Belfast showdown on Saturday.

Cliftonville, though, plan to appeal Holland's ban. He served an automatic one-match ban for a red card, but has had two further games added to the suspension, ruling him out of the final.

Meanwhile Ballymena United’s Kevin Kelbie will miss the opening three games of next season.
