Glenavon 2 Ballymena United 2

Roy Walker refused to point the finger at keeper Dwayne Nelson despite his last gasp blunder which gifted Glenavon a point.
With only two minutes left on the clock and United 2-1 ahead the stopper allowed Stuart King’s hanging cross to slip through his fingers. And before he could blink big Jay Magee slammed the ball into the net to halt Glenavon’s recent slide which had seen them lose three in a row.
Aaron Stewart powered home a 53rd minute header to break the deadlock at Mourneview and Michael Smith restored the lead in 72 minutes after Trevor Molloy levelled.
Walker insisted: “ We don’t single out individuals for criticism. I’m sure the lad is disappointed and down beat.
“That’s our first draw of the season but if you look at chances and consider their goalkeeper was man-of-the-match then it would be a foolish person who would argue that Ballymena didn’t deserve to win the game.”
Rival Marty Quinn was in no mood to argue. He rapped: “Over the 90 minutes we probably didn’t deserve a point.
“I try to be honest unlike other people who come out with garbage when their team has been played off the park.
“When you think Trevor Molloy should have put us 2-1 up only for the ball to come back off the bar and before you know it the ball is in our onion bag.
“The positive for us is that we halted the slide which had seen us lose our previous three games and we’ve maintained the six point gap between ourselves and Ballymena.”
Walker was in jovial mood when he questioned whether Tuda Murphy had a visa.
He said: “I’m going to check because I’m not happy with him. He was excellent and made three really top saves.”
But on a more serious note Walker has pledged to review a DVD of the game after insisting he had genuinely not seen a first half incident between two of his own players.
Skipper Andy Smith and Mark Surgenor eye-balled each other after an apparent verbal exchange and players intervened to prevent it becoming even more ugly.
Walker said: “I genuinely didn’t see it but I’ll have a look at the DVD and see what comes of it.”
