Hamilton delighted to tie up deal for starlet Cooper
Glenavon have confirmed the signing of talented winger Joel Cooper on a two-year deal.
Cooper, who represented the Northern Ireland Regions Cup team, has been with Ballyclare Comrades for the past two seasons.
The 19-year-old has admirers at Linfield but the boyhood Lurgan Blues fan will be thrilled to pull on the blue jersey at Mourneview Park.
Cooper played and impressed in Glenavon's friendly at Loughgall on Wednesday night and put pen to paper yesterday. Manager Gary Hamilton said: "I'm delighted Joel has come on board. He is a winger who is direct and uses his pace to get by defenders. He is also a Glenavon fan which comes from his grandfather, who never misses a game.
"It is a massive boost when you have a player who wants to come and play for the club. He is another bright and promising young player with bags of potential and it again brings the average age of the squad down."
Meanwhile, Coleraine will take on a young Rangers side at the Showgrounds tonight (8pm). The Ibrox Select side will be made up of the Gers' most promising young stars as well as the likes of Andy Murdoch and Robbie Crawford.
