They think it’s all Novo... it is now - Nacho to leave Glentoran
End of the line for colourful striker Nacho as Glentoran cut their losses
Nacho Novo's Glentoran adventure is over and boss Gary Haveron said last night that he had to let go of the Rangers legend to continue his rebuilding job at The Oval.
Novo became one of the biggest signings in the history of the Irish League when he joined the Glens last summer but the Spaniard failed to roll back the years.
The 38-year-old was rumoured to be on close to £1,000 a week but that significant investment did not produce results and the club, which failed to secure European funding, is now focused on nurturing young talent.
Haveron said: "Nacho worked hard and was professional when he was with us but if we are to move forward as a club we need to freshen things up and nurturing the young talent in particular.
"He did come to the club at a considerable cost and the club needs to tighten its belt and every penny counts.
"Nacho had a vast amount of experience but he is 38 now and we want to go down a different road. I want a young, energetic team with plenty of pace."
