Linfield must get it right this time: Jeffrey

Linfield boss David Jeffrey will insist his men take no prisoners as they attempt to see off the PSNI at the second time of asking tonight.

The Blues go into the fourth round replay knowing that a tie against Glenavon awaits the winners, and Jeffrey will send his players out with a reminder of the scorless draw from the first contest ringing in their ears.

“It’s a game where we will give the PSNI our utmost respect,” said the Blues boss.

“This is not a foregone conclusion, and we have to be fired up.

“I simply cannot defend our last performance against them. The attitude and approach of the players was dreadful, but thankfully we have been given a second chance.”

Meanwhile PSNI goalkeeper Michael Dougherty knows what’s coming at him tonight at Windsor.

“Rarely do Linfield underestimate any team and if they do they certainly don’t do it twice, so I expect David Jeffrey will have them warned and things will be different this time,” said the ex-Glentoran stopper.

“We played above ourselves and Linfield were very much below par in the first game.

“For us to put Linfield out would take something very special. Our aim is simply to give a good account of ourselves and make sure we don’t get completely turned over.”
