Linfield eyeing up Kearns deal

By Staff Reporter

Linfield have made a move to sign former Northern Ireland Under-19 international Daniel Kearns.

The Belfast-born winger, who later played at Under-19, Under-21 and Under-23 level for the Republic of Ireland after switching his international allegiance, was released by Carlisle United earlier this month.

Blues boss Warren Feeney has been searching for a striker, and Kearns' availability has sparked his interest with the 24-year-old available as a free agent. His name will trigger bad memories for Linfield fans - he scored a hat-trick against the Blues in a Setanta Sports Cup game at Windsor Park four years ago during his time with Dundalk.

e PETERBOROUGH United have confirmed that former Cliftonville striker Joe Gormley has sustained cruciate ligament damage. The 25-year-old, who joined Posh in the summer, will have surgery next week and will miss the rest of the season.
