Sky deal is a lift for us all: Linfield chairman Roy McGivern
Linfield chairman Roy McGivern has welcomed the Northern Ireland Football League's agreement with Sky Sports which will see five Danske Bank Premiership fixtures and the NIFL League Cup final shown live this season and in each of the next five campaigns on the satellite channel.
The live broadcast deal, which runs until the end of the 2021-22 season, kicks off with tomorrow night's Cliftonville v Glentoran Premiership clash and then Saturday's NI League Cup final between Ballymena United and Carrick Rangers (5.30pm).
The agreement is a significant financial boost for NIFL and clubs.
"Irish League football will benefit from wider exposure," said McGivern. "We aren't aware yet of the financial details and how it will impact our matches with regard to the kick-off times but NIFL are to be congratulated for being proactive and Sky's coverage has been well received.
"I would imagine our game against Crusaders at Windsor Park, a possible title decider, will be appealing to Sky Sports."
