Portadown aiming to shine at Windsor

Keith O’Hara is looking for a more polished performance from Portadown at Windsor Park tomorrow afternoon.

An inconsistent start to the season has seen a dent put in the Shamrock Park side’s challenge for the Carling Premiership title, but both manager Ronnie McFall and the club’s new sponsors are hoping that there will still be some silverware to shine up at the end of the campaign.

The Ports — who face Linfield tomorrow followed by a trip to Glentoran on Tuesday — have struck a three-year deal with Porter’s Bodyshop, a family owned business which has been established in Portadown for some 35 years and O’Hara is looking at the next five days as crucial.

“These two games could make or break our season,” said O’Hara.

“They may well determine our ambitions for the season.

“Going to play Linfield and Glentoran is a big task for any team, but two good results and we could kick on. Negative results and we’ll still be stuck where we are at the minute.

“We need consistency, but it’s tough and it’s what everyone is looking for. We have talent in the squad and we’re capable of more than what we’ve shown so far.”
