Casement blow as ban is upheld

Portadown defender Chris Casement will miss the Irish Cup final against Glentoran next month after an attempt to have a six-match ban for an alleged headbutting offence overturned was thrown out by the Irish FA.

The Ports contested the red card shown to Casement after an incident with Dungannon's Terry Fitzpatrick on Saturday, March 14.

Despite the Ports producing video evidence and Fitzpatrick himself giving a statement exonerating Casement of any headbutt, the ban has been upheld. It will kick in next Monday, ruling the player out of the final Premiership match of the season against Linfield on Saturday week and the Irish Cup final, as well as the first four matches of next season.
