Ballymena & Provincial League round-up October 26
No league games were played in the Intermediate League due to the Intermediate Cup 1st Round, where it was a mixed bag of results for the Ballymena sides.
Newtowne had a good 4-0 home win over Larne Tech OB with goals scored by Steven Duffy, Billy Doran, Ryan Logue and Mark McLean. Carniny Amateurs lost 3-2 away to Sirocco Works after extra time. An own goal and one from Dean Wright saw Carniny in front twice in normal time. Dunloy travelled to Dunmurry Rec and recorded a good win, with goals scored by Conor Reid (2), John John McFerran (2), Benny McGarry and an own goal with the home team scoring twice. Brantwood lost 4-1 at home to Moneyslane who took the lead in the first minute. Mark McCann equalised for Brantwood, who went behind again in the 46th minute and two late goals killed any hope of a Brantwood recovery.
Magherafelt Sky Blues lost out 3-1 at home to Roe Rovers. Ballynure Old Boys went 2-0 down against AFC Craigavon but came back to score twice, but AFC also scored two more. FC Ballynure were 2-0 down when the referee called a halt to the game in the 54th minute due to the surface being waterlogged.
In the Junior One Division, Ballyclare Comrades Reserves made it seven wins from seven, with a good 6-2 home win against Desertmartin Swifts. Goals scored by Aaron Lindsay (2), Mark Conn, Jamie McTaggart, Daniel Ellis and David McCallum. Carnmoney FC scored two goals through Warren Nelson and Alan Harris but lost 3-2 against Magherafelt Sky Blue Reserves. Tobermore United Reserves beat Chimney Corner Reserves with goals scored by Mervyn Hutchinson (2) and Solomon Lumwama with Ciaran Faith converting a penalty for the Corner. Mallusk Athletic won 5-4 against Killymoon Rangers Reserves with goals scored by Ross Middleton (3) and Phil Brown (2).
In the Junior Two Division, Cookstown RBL scored six goals through Andy Kelso (2), Arnold McPartland, Ricky McMenemy, Ryan Smith and Gareth Megaw with Moyola Park Olympic only scoring once. FC Larne scored two goals from Richard Girvan and Stevie White, but conceded eight against AFC Carrick, whose goals were scored by Michael Deignan (3), Ryan Clawson (2), Tony Matthews, Paul Gilmore and Lee Crockett. FC Whiteabbey got back to winning ways, beating Ballynure Old Boys ‘B’ 4-2 with goals scored by Chris Loy, Jon Montgomery, Sean Cowler and Martin Cousins with Matthew McClurg, and Ryan Stewart scoring for Ballynure.
Wakehurst Strollers suffered their first defeat in seven in the Junior Three Division at home to Rathcoole FC Reserves. Charles Allen scored for the Strollers between two goals scored in each half by Michael McCombe for the visitors.
Forthriver FC had Glengormley United at home in the Junior Four Division on Saturday and conceded two goals in the first half to suffer their first league defeat in six games. Mallusk Athletic Reserves beat 3rd Ballyclare Old Boys 5-2, with Steve Howie (2) scoring for the Old Boys and Jamie Dodds (4), Michael McCartney and Alan Brown on target for Mallusk.
