Down Area Winter Football League round-up, January 23

Published 24/01/2016

It was another weather depleted fixture list, so well done to the clubs who managed to get their games played.

In the Premier Division, Vision Athletic moved up to fourth position, following a 3-1 away victory over 3rd Bangor, and close behind are Oakfield Breda, who moved up to fifth position following a convincing 5-1 away win over basement club Comber Star.

In Division 1, Agape moved four points clear at the top, following a 4-0 away win over Shorts III, and Ballygowan kept their promotion challenge going with a 2-0 home win over Ards Rangers III. Queens Grads III & Newtownards RBL kept their own challenges going, as Queens beat Abbey Villa III 2-0 and the RBL secured a comfortable 5-1 win over Bryansburn Rangers III.

In Division 2A, Moat Park Rangers II moved back to second place, following a 5-2 home win over 3rd Bangor II ,and in Division 2B, Clonduff II suffered their first league defeat of the season, following a 5-4 home defeat to 43rd Dundonald II, with Comber Young Men II closing the gap at the top to two points with a game in hand, following a 2-1 derby win over Ballygowan II. This division is hard to call, as all top five teams are still in with realistic chances of winning it or securing promotion.
