A week later and Tevez and Mancini still haven't met

By Ian Herbert

The big freeze between Carlos Tevez and the Manchester City manager, Roberto Mancini, appeared to be no closer to a thaw last night, with the two men still to meet each other a full week after the Argentinian striker's return to Manchester.

Mancini was at the club's Carrington training ground to take a training session yesterday but with Tevez not scheduled to be in for training until 3pm, the player is understood not to have had a chance to offer the manager an explanation of the interview – granted prior to his departure for Britain – which has set the two men's relationship back yet further. Speaking to the Argentinian TV channel Fox Sports, Tevez said that he had been "treated like a dog" by Mancini, over his refusal to warm up when a substitute for a Champions League match against Bayern Munich in Germany in September.

Tevez, who has not played for City since the incident, was linked with moves to Internazionale, Milan and Paris St-Germain during the transfer window in January, but nothing was concluded.

Mancini flew to Italy to see his father, Aldo, at the weekend – delaying the prospect of a discussion to clear the air.
