Amazing Leicester's title as Spurs cave in
...and Jamie Vardy is having a party
Player of the Year Jamie Vardy led his Leicester City players in a title celebration last night as he lived up to the terrace chant that has accompanied the club's incredible charge to the Premier League title.
'Jamie Vardy's having a party', they sang and the whole city of Leicester was party central last night as the Foxes were crowned top-flight champions for the first time in the club's history after Tottenham were held to a 2-2 draw by Chelsea on an evening of high drama at Stamford Bridge.
Top scorer Vardy invited the City squad to his Melton Mowbray home and they cracked open the champagne while around 1,000 Leicester supporters gathered outside the gates of his house.
Skipper Wes Morgan broke off to reflect on a stunning season which has seen the 5,000/1 outsiders upset the odds.
"It's the best feeling of my career and I couldn't be prouder that it's as part of this team," he said.
The anointing of Leicester, the first new top-flight champions in 38 years, will come after Saturday's clash against Everton at the King Power Stadium, and Vardy will return from suspension to feature.
