Blackburn striker Benni McCarthy admitted the players had forgotten how to win before Sam Allardyce took over last week and gave them renewed belief.
McCarthy was the star performer in the 3-0 victory over Stoke at Ewood Park, scoring twice and linking well with fellow forward Jason Roberts.
The victory was the club’s first in 12 Barclays Premier League matches and ended a run of six successive defeats which cost Paul Ince his job.
"We forgot how to win games and once you forget how to do that it is hard to get a win under your belt. The manager wanted us to get that feeling back and we are going to sweat blood,” said McCarthy.
