Jeff Hendrick and Michael Keane scored their first Premier League goals as Burnley brushed aside a ragged Watford at Turf Moor.

Hendrick, the club's £10.5million record signing in the summer, nodded home Steven Defour's 38th minute corner and the Belgian bagged a second assist when Keane rose to head a second shortly after half-time.

Defour has now scored one and set up three of Burnley's five goals this season, and here provided the kind of spark that was visibly lacking from the visitors, who turned over Manchester United in their previous outing.

"Here's your man of the match. We've got Defour, @StevenDefour..." - Burnley (@BurnleyOfficial) saluted their summer signing.

Defour. The former Anderlecht playmaker is increasingly looking like a crucial figure at Turf Moor. He laid on both goals - meaning he now has three assists and a goal to his name - and on several occasions offered the touch of class in a congested midfield area. Sean Dyche does not expect him to be at full fitness for a couple of weeks yet, so Burnley have more to look forward to.

ENGLAND WATCH The Watford fans stuck up an early chant of "Deeney for England" as they looked to champion their captain's cause but it was not a night when he looked a readymade replacement for Harry Kane. Deeney was ineffective in a ragged team. Keane, on the other hand, did his reputation no harm at all at a time when English centre-halves are not exactly growing on trees.

STAT OF THE DAY Hendrick only managed two goals in 47 appearances for club and country last season. The Republic of Ireland midfielder has now matched that mark in September having opened his international account against Serbia and kicked off his Premier League tally here.
