City to play Stuttgart in friendly

Manchester City have added a friendly match against Stuttgart to their pre-season itinerary.

Manuel Pellegrini's side will head to Germany on August 1, a little over a week before they open their Barclays Premier League campaign with a Monday night trip to West Brom on August 10.

"Vfb Stuttgart will provide a stern test at a crucial time in our pre-season preparations," Pellegrini told the club's website.

"The Mercedes-Benz Arena is an outstanding football venue and one that we are thoroughly looking forward to visiting.

"The closer we get to that first game of the season, the more focused our players will be on being included on that first day of the Premier League season and so fans can expect a great contest."

City this week headed to Australia, where they will face sister club Melbourne City in a friendly next weekend before taking part in the International Champions Cup against Roma and Real Madrid.
