Danny Rose linked with Manchester United switch as Barcelona's Coutinho chase continues: transfer rumours

WHAT THE MEDIA SAY

Tottenham's Danny Rose is wanted by both Manchester United and Chelsea, should Spurs opt to sell their want-away full-back, according to today's transfer rumours.

The 27 year-old set tongues wagging with an interview with the Sun, in which he reiterated his desire to win trophies and said that he will make it his "priority" to play in his native north.

“Time is running out and I do want to win trophies," he said. "I don’t want to play football for 15 years and not have one trophy or one medal.

“I will say this too — I will play up north. I don’t know exactly when, but I will get back up north and play some football somewhere...I have been away for over ten years now and I don’t get to see my mum that often.

“I am going to make it my priority before I retire to play football up there. My short-term focus is to get back to playing like last year and if I do that the long-term will take care of itself."

Rose has been out since February with an ACL injury but now Sky Sports are linking both Manchester United and Premier League champions Chelsea with a move for the England international.

Meanwhile, Barcelona have had a £90M offer for Liverpool's PHILLIPE COUTINHO knocked back.

The bid was rejected out of hand by Liverpool, leaving the Spanish giants urging Brazilian Coutinho to help force a move away. Barca’s belief is that Liverpool will blink first if the midfielder signals a desire to leave for Spain and they up their bid to £100m.

Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte is hoping to sign Arsenal midfielder ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN, according to the Daily Star.

Conte is said to be a big fan of the England international and is looking to land the 23-year-old, who has a year left on his Gunners contract, for £35million.

The Blues boss also has his sights set on Barcelona defender SERGI ROBERTO, according to Spanish newspaper Sport.

ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC could remain in the Premier League, with the Daily Mail reporting the Swedish striker has opened talks over a new deal with Manchester United.

Ibrahimovic scored 28 goals in all competitions for the Red Devils last season before suffering knee ligament damage in April.

United are hoping to make another signing before the end of the transfer window, with the Manchester Evening News claiming the club are continuing their pursuit of Inter Milan winger IVAN PERISIC.

West Ham, who travel to Old Trafford on Sunday, are still looking to add to their squad. The Mirror writes that the Hammers will make a £25m bid for Sporting Lisbon's Portugal international midfielder WILLIAM CARVALHO.
