Evans' West Brom form earns fans' Player of the Year gong
West Brom defender Jonny Evans received the perfect boost ahead of the European Championship finals by netting the supporters' club Player of the Year award.
The former Manchester United ace pipped former Old Trafford team-mate and Baggies skipper Darren Fletcher to the prize.
Evans has enjoyed a brilliant first season at West Brom and was presented with the award in front of 300 members during a dinner at the Hawthorns this week.
John Homer, chairman of the supporters' club, said: "Jonny is a very versatile player who, along with Darren, has bought that element of class from United where they've had a good upbringing.
"He can prove his worth in almost any defensive position and he also filled in for a spell in midfield which demonstrated entirely what a super footballer he is."
Evans (left with West Brom boss Tony Pulis) has played 32 times in all competitions for the Baggies.
And the Newtownabbey man is expected to be a key figure in Michael O'Neill's Northern Ireland squad for the Euros in France.
