Frank Lampard to leave Chelsea: Midfielder confirms he will be leaving side after 13 years
Frank Lampard has announced that he is to leave Chelsea after 13 successful years at Stamford Bridge.
The 35-year-old, who is away on international duty with England as the prepare for the World Cup, was out of contract with the Blues.
Lampard joined Chelsea from London rivals West Ham United in 2001 for a fee of £11m and scored a record 211 goals in all competitions for the Blues.
"This club has become part of my life," said the midfielder in a statement released by his agent announcing the departure.
"Whatever the next challenge I will always have Chelsea in my heart."
Manchester City's MLS franchise New York City have been linked with a move for the player, with QPR and City's Australian sister club Melbourne Heart also interested. Lampard will not consider any offers until after the World Cup.
Lampard had helped the club to three Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2012.
