Two goals in two minutes gave Hull a 2-1 victory over Southampton, ending their six-game losing streak.

Captain Michael Dawson glanced a header beyond Fraser Forster's reach just moments after substitute Robert Snodgrass guided the ball home from a driven Sam Clucas cross in the 61st minute.

Southampton had taken the lead in the sixth minute as Charlie Austin notched his fifth goal in seven league games from the penalty spot, after Maya Yoshida was brought down by Curtis Davies, but their dominance was ultimately in vain.

TWEET OF THE MATCH

"Meanwhile, in the game no ones got time to check on, Hull have scored twice to lead 2-1 against Southampton! #HULSOU" - UNILAD Football ‏(@UNILADFooty) takes a break from Liverpool and Manchester United's goal-laden performances elsewhere to salute Hull's comeback.

STAR MAN - MICHAEL DAWSON

The captain defended from the front with some key blocks and showed a striker's instinct in converting Robert Snodgrass' free-kick in the 64th minute. He was unlucky to score an own goal last week against Watford and his efforts were rewarded today.

VIEW FROM THE BENCH

Hull's injury woe continued as strikers Abel Hernandez and Will Keane were both forced off within the first 20 minutes. Mike Phelan will be hoping they can get over their problems during the international break. However, the injury to Keane saw the return of Snodgrass, much to the delight of the City fans, and he played a key role.

MOAN OF THE MATCH

Dusan Tadic could have been shown a red card for his clumsy high tackle on Ryan Mason in the 28th minute. Referee Graham Scott gave him the benefit of the doubt and showed him just a yellow. If Tadic had been more instrumental it might have been injust.
