Record buy Islam Slimani capped a dream Premier League debut as his two goals powered Leicester to victory over Burnley.

The Algeria striker scored either side of the break to clinch a 3-0 win and seal a wonderful week after the Foxes' debut Champions League victory at Club Brugge.

Ben Mee's own goal wrapped up the win for the Foxes who played with the swagger which saw them romp to the title last season.

MOMENT OF THE MATCH

Leicester had been struggling to break resolute Burnley down, despite Riyad Mahrez's best efforts, but they eventually found the opener in first-half stoppage time.

Islam Slimani began to pay back the £29million the Foxes spent on him when he powered in his first goal for the club on his Premier League debut from Christian Fuchs' free-kick just before the break.

He doubled the lead three minutes after half-time as the record signing instantly looked at home in the Premier League.

VIEW FROM THE BENCH

Leicester have regained their confidence and swagger this week after their brilliant Champions League win and straightforward victory over Burnley.

Ranieri had urged his side to forget about their Club Brugge victory and they did just that with Slimani and Mahrez the catalysts.

Burnley looked better equipped for a survival fight than they were two years ago but manager Sean Dyche will rue two sloppy moments which allowed Slimani to score.

STAR MAN

Islam Slimani

He only had one training session with his new team-mates before starting at Club Brugge in the Champions League on Wednesday and was on the right wavelength against Burnley.

His link-up play with Algeria team-mate Mahrez should be a given but he also dovetailed well with Jamie Vardy before he opened the scoring in the first half.

Slimani has now scored nine headed goals in 2016 and looked a shrewd buy by Claudio Ranieri.
