Leicester v Manchester City - Story of the match

Jamie Vardy spectacularly ended his three-month goal drought as his hat-trick helped Leicester inflict more misery on Pep Guardiola.

The striker, without a club goal since September 10, bagged a treble as the Foxes' early blitz inspired them to a thumping 4-2 victory over Manchester City.

Claudio Ranieri's European changes instantly paid off and the defending champions claimed their first Premier League win since October.

TWEET OF THE MATCH

"Vardy is back. Leicester can still retain their title" - Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) lets himself get carried away.

STAR MAN

Jamie Vardy. His first club goals in 17 appearances will feel like a weight off his shoulders. The diminutive striker looked back to last season's best, making a nuisance of himself and worrying defenders with his pace and movement. Took all three of his goals very well.

HIGHLIGHT OF THE MATCH

Vardy's goal to complete his hat-trick. The striker anticipated a mistake from John Stones, pouncing on his back pass to his goalkeeper before rolling the ball home from a tight angle. The King Power Stadium erupted and you could see what ending his three-month goal drought in such fashion meant to Vardy.

DATA POINT

Leicester midfielder Matty James made a long-awaited return to first-team action after suffering a serious knee injury in May 2015.
