Yohan Benalouane has joined Fiorentina on loan after spending six frustrating months at Leicester.

The 28-year-old defender signed for the Foxes in August but managed only four Barclays Premier League appearances. He did feature five times in Capital One Cup and FA Cup games, however.

Fiorentina have now offered the former Parma and Atalanta centre-back the chance to play regular football as they continue to challenge Napoli and Juventus for the Serie A title.

A Leicester statement confirmed Benalouane, who last summer agreed a four-year deal at the King Power Stadium, had linked up with Paulo Sousa's squad before Wednesday's meeting with Carpi.
