Liverpool close in on trio of big names and today's other transfer rumours

Liverpool are set to open talks with the representatives of Alexandre Lacazette, according to the Daily Express, as today's rumours have the club linked to three big summer signings.

The Lyon striker had looked like joining Atletico Madrid but the Spanish side were hit with a transfer ban and are unable to register new players until January.

Lacazette scored 37 goals in all competitions last season and is also a reported target of Arsenal and Manchester United.

The Express reported, though, that Liverpool could meet the advisors of the 26 year-old this week.

The Liverpool Echo claims the Merseyside club are also confident they can win the race with Manchester City and Chelsea to sign Southampton defender VIRGIL VAN DIJK.

The paper reported that the centre-back is a priority for boss Jurgen Klopp and that Liverpool are prepared to match the financial clout of their two fellow Premier League suitors in order to get their man.

And the Daily Mirror, The Times and the Daily Telegraph all believe Roma winger MOHAMED SALAH is closing in on a £35million move to Liverpool, while The Sun claim the player doubled his salary to £90,000 a week four days ago.

Manchester United will turn their attention to challenging Chelsea for the £80million signature of Everton’s ROMELU LUKAKU, according to The Independent.

The paper also claims Jose Mourinho’s team are interested in both Real Madrid’s ALVARO MORATA and Torino’s ANDREA BELOTTI, as they look beyond previous top target ANTOINE GRIEZMANN.
