Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to appear on Monday Night Football
Jamie Carragher has revealed that his special guest on Monday Night Football will be the Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp.
The German joins Liverpool great Carragher and Sky Sports presenter David Jones for the broadcaster’s live coverage of the Premier League clash between Burnley and Watford, although it will be his analysis of the weekend’s action that will be of most interest to viewers.
Klopp will undoubtedly be one of the most high-profile guests to grace Monday Night Football, with current Premier League managers rarely seen on television as one-off pundits.
Liverpool supporters will not only look forward to seeing both Carragher and Klopp on the show, but they will also be treated to the current Liverpool boss dissecting the impressive 5-1 demolition of Hull City on Saturday.
Carragher took to Twitter to confirm the news on Sunday, giving viewers over 24 hours to wait until the likeable German takes his place alongside the former England defender in a rare TV appearance.
Klopp follows Jose Mourinho in appearing on a live analysis show after the current Manchester United manager appears on Sky’s Goals on Sunday show in February 2015 where he was a surprise inclusion after contacting the broadcaster the day before in order to express his views on Chelsea’s title-winning season in 2014/15.
Liverpool fans were understandably delighted with Carragher’s news, and responded to him on Twitter accordingly.
While the move makes sense for Sky to get a big name such as Klopp to join Carragher on screen, it does remain to be seen whether Klopp can keep it clean for the duration of the show.
He took great pleasure in swearing last week in an interview with the broadcaster when he thought the cameras were turned off, and after Sky reporter Pete Colley apologised for his outburst, the German simply stood there and smiled.
