Otamendi sets his sights on Euro success with Man City
Etihad spending exceeds £100m with defender capture
Manchester City have taken their summer spending to over £100m with the signing of Argentina defender Nicolas Otamendi from Valencia.
The 27-year-old centre-back has signed a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium after the clubs agreed a fee of around £31.5m.
His move to City comes after the high-profile arrivals of Raheem Sterling and Fabian Delph for £49m and £8m from Liverpool and Aston Villa earlier this summer. The club also spent around £13m combined on promising strikers Patrick Roberts and Enes Unal.
There could also be more business to come before the September 1 deadline with City still interested in Wolfsburg midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, for whom they reportedly made a £47m offer.
Otamendi hopes to enjoy considerable success at City.
He said: "I am very happy because I am coming to an amazing club. It would be a dream to fight for the Champions League and win the Premier League. A club like City has to aspire to these kinds of things. I will give my best."
