Warren Feeney will be appointed Newport County's new manager today. The former Linfield boss succeeds John Sheridan at the League Two club who has taken the reins at Oldham.

The appointment will be a proud moment in the career of the former Northern Ireland international who hoped to land a managerial post in the full-time game.

After leaving for Oldham, Sheridan said: "I'm really hoping Warren Feeney gets the job because he's got a great attitude and a good work ethic and he wants to do well himself."

Feeney will be assisted by by Mike Flynn.
