Robin van Persie tells Louis van Gaal he wants to stay at Manchester United
Robin van Persie is keen to remain at Manchester United next season despite the likelihood of being demoted to a more peripheral role next term.
The Netherlands international will enter the final year of his Old Trafford contract next season and there has been speculation that he could depart this summer, allowing Manchester United to recoup some of the £24m they paid Arsenal in 2012.
However, according to the Daily Mail, Van Persie has told manager Louis van Gaal he wants to remain at Old Trafford and believes he can contribute to the side.
This term the former Gunner has started 25 matches for the Red Devils and notches 10 goals in a frustrating campaign that's been hit by injury and competition for places.
It's expected that Van Persie's ability to command a regular place in the side will be made more difficult with the expected arrival of reinforcements in attack, possibly including his countryman Memphis Depay.
