Video: Manchester United defender Phil Jones shows how not to head a ball
Almost as soon as Manchester United and Arsenal had kicked off on Sunday Phil Jones set about making it an occasion to remember by falling around on the floor like a some sort of deranged, lost sea mammal.
In an action-packed fixture, Arsenal edged closer to securing third place in the Premier League. They must now beat Sunderland on Wednesday after Theo Walcott's deflected cross gave them a late equaliser and a point at Old Trafford.
Headbutting the grass while doing 'the worm'. Phil Jones has just become a parody of himself now, sad really.— Paddy Power (@paddypower) May 17, 2015
Radamel Falcao waved to all four corners of the ground when he was replaced in the second half. With a return of just four goals in 28 appearances, it seems unlikely the on-loan Colombian will be back next season.
And Real Madrid target David de Gea waved to the United fans as he came off with an injury in the second half and was replaced by Victor Valdes.
For United to snatch third place, they will have to beat Hull next weekend and hope Arsenal lose their final two league games against Sunderland and West Brom.
But, forget the result or what that means for the teams, something else stole the limelight. A round of applause, Phil Jones.
The footage is hilarious, but so were many of the tweets mocking the move. Here are some of the best:
