Aston Villa captain Micah Richards has been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association.

It follows an incident in the tunnel at the end of Villa's 2-1 defeat to Swansea on Saturday. Richards will still be available for tonight's League Cup last-16 clash against Southampton.

The tunnel was seen to be shaking on Saturday after the teams entered it at the final whistle with Richards still angry following a clash with Federico Fernandez during the game.

The FA studied that initial incident and decided not to take any action against Richards or Fernandez. However, Richards will face action after continuing the argument after the match.

Richards has until 6pm tomorrow to reply to his charge

It is another blow to Villa, having sacked boss Tim Sherwood on Sunday following six straight Premier League defeats.

They are currently bottom of the table and face Tottenham, Manchester City and Everton in their next three league fixtures.
