New deal for Villa youngster Johnson

Aston Villa have confirmed midfielder Daniel Johnson has signed a new two-year deal with the club.

The Jamaica-born 20-year-old, who is yet to make his senior Villa debut, joined the midlands outfit's academy in 2010 and had a loan spell last season with Yeovil, featuring in five matches.

Johnson told "I'm really happy to have signed the new contract. These are exciting times at the club at the moment, you can see where the manager (Paul Lambert) wants to go with it and what he's trying to do, and it's really good."

He added: "I'm really looking forward to coming back into training and I'm hoping that this year can be even better for me and for the team."

Forward Andreas Weimann and defender Nathan Baker, both Villa academy graduates, have also recently signed new contracts with the club.
