Palacios out for 'a few weeks'

Wilson Palacios underwent a minor operation on Saturday

Stoke midfielder Wilson Palacios has been ruled out for "a few weeks" after undergoing a minor surgical procedure having pulled out of the team which was beaten 1-0 by Liverpool at Anfield.

The Honduras international was named in manager Mark Hughes' starting line-up and took part in the pre-match warm-ups before he was withdrawn from the team and replaced by Marc Wilson.

At the time Stoke said Palacios was ill.

However, in a statement on stokecityfc.com the club said: "Stoke City can confirm that Wilson Palacios was taken to hospital in Liverpool after an incident occurred in the pre-match warm-up which required immediate medical attention.

"Wilson has successfully undergone a minor surgical procedure from which he is now recovering from and is likely to be sidelined for a few weeks."
