Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has said the deal to sign Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas is "very advanced" - but still not complete.
The long-running transfer saga had looked to be coming to an end on Friday with suggestions that confirmation of a deal was imminent. Barca goalkeeper Victor Valdes said in a press conference that he believed the transfer was close to being finalised, while his team-mates Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique both sent Fabregas messages on Twitter to welcome their Spain colleague,
However, there has not yet been any official confirmation from either club, and when asked about the situation today, Guardiola said: "Cesc isn't here yet."
He added: "It is very advanced, but the information that I have, not from Twitter but from the club, is that it is still not quite finalised. In any case, if he comes or doesn't come, Barca will continue to have a good midfield."
Commenting on the Tweets of his players, Guardiola added: "The social networks are unstoppable, they are difficult to control, but I'm not going to the Tweets of Pique or Puyol to know what the situation is, I talk directly with (sporting vice-president) Josep Maria Bartomeu and (sporting director) Andoni Zubizarreta , and they say it isn't done yet."
Barca face Real Madrid in the first leg of the Spanish Supercopa at the Bernabeu on Sunday night.
