England must take a leaf out of Southampton's youth investment rather than worry about messing with Christmas tradition, according to Mauricio Pochettino.

Saints' Argentinian boss believes England's national set-up should prize developing young talent above all else.

Former Espanyol and Paris St Germain defender Pochettino is primed to embark on his first-ever festive fixture glut in the Barclays Premier League.

The 41-year-old is ready to embrace the Christmas craziness, and thinks England should continue to do so unashamedly.

"My staff and I are really looking forward to this, and are fully prepared to enjoy this period," Pochettino said.

"It's going to be madness, crazy with many games in a short period of time.

"But I think it's also a good time for families to actually come to the stadium, get together as a family.

"It's going to be tough, but it's something that people, many families enjoy doing in this country.

"And we want to enjoy it too.

"We really want to experience it as best we can.

"I think what would really benefit the English national side would be to actually have a project in place like Southampton's.

"A project that fully believes in young players, in the youth academies, in the Under-18s, 15s and even Under-Eights, in the English talent as well.

"That would really benefit the English side more than a Christmas break."
