Real Madrid player wants to join Liverpool AND Reds 'will' sign Van Dijk: all the transfer rumours

Liverpool have had a frustrating summer so far but they could be set to land two major signings, according to today's rumours.

Spanish outlet Diario Gol are reporting that Real Madrid midfielder MATEO KOVACIC would welcome a move to Anfield. The 23 year-old Croatian midfielder has long been linked with Liverpool but it remains to be seen whether he will make the move now that Philippe Coutinho appears to be staying put.

Meanwhile, a former Everton star says Liverpool WILL land top target VIRGIL VAN DIJK.

Leon Osman, speaking on Sky Sports, backed the Reds to secure the signing of the Southampton defender, despite the south coast club seeming reluctant to sell.

"I actually feel the move will go through," said Osman. "I think Southampton will inevitably accept the offer that Liverpool are offering and they will get their man.

"The buying club and the club that the player wants to go to, more often than not, get their man. Virgil van Dijk has come out and said where he wants to play his football next season. Liverpool obviously want the player."

Meanwhile, the Mirror have reported that Barcelona have admitted defeat in their quest to tempt Liverpool into selling PHILIPPE COUTINHO.

And reports by Brazilian outlet Estadao have claimed that Coutinho was forced into refusing to play for his current club. The reports say that the playmaker never wanted to withdraw his services but followed the instructions of his representatives.

As if Paris St Germain were not already dominating the headlines during this window, they could be closing in on another sensational transfer swoop, according to Sky Italia.

The Ligue 1 side, who signed Neymar for a world-record fee earlier this month, are ready to go big again and bring Monaco's KYLIAN MBAPPE to the club for £128million. They are also eyeing up £73million-rated Fabinho in a double deal that would break the £200million barrier.

Sky Sports News are however reporting that the Mbappe transfer would be an initial loan move until next summer.

The Daily Mail are reporting that Arsenal are set for crunch talks with ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN over a new deal. A £125,000-per-week contract has been offered to the England international and Chelsea are interested observers.

Chelsea have other issues to contend with, though, notably the potential sale of DIEGO COSTA and, according to the Sun, his likely buyers Atletico Madrid have told the striker to smooth over his relationship with his current employers.
