Redmond enjoying fruitful partnership with Bertrand
Watford 3 Southampton 4
Nathan Redmond is revelling playing for Southampton - even if team-mate Ryan Bertrand is giving him earache.
Redmond scored twice as Saints recovered from their EFL Cup final loss to Manchester United by beating Watford 4-3 at Vicarage Road.
The Hornets struggled to cope with Saints' pace and movement, with Dusan Tadic and Manolo Gabbiadini - for the sixth time in four games - also on target.
Saints were deserving winners, although they needed two goals in the final seven minutes to prevail.
Redmond is enjoying a fruitful left-sided partnership with Bertrand, the former Chelsea left back, so much so that the former Norwich winger has been linked with an England call-up.
"With Ryan behind me, he's always in my ear if I do something good or if I do something bad - sometimes I can't do any good.
"To have someone strong like that behind me, it's a good feeling to know that defensively you've got a little bit less to do and gives me the freedom to go forward."
Watford led inside the opening few minutes but could not capitalise.
Troy Deeney struck after four minutes against Saints, who then took a half-time lead through Tadic and Redmond.
Stefano Okaka levelled with 11 minutes remaining and, after Gabbiadini and Redmond took Saints 4-2 ahead, Abdoulaye Doucoure scored in stoppage time to set up a nervy conclusion.
