Spurs hunt for strikers - with Real Madrid's Klaas-Jan Huntelaar in their sights

Tottenham Hotspur expect to hear today whether they have been successful in persuading Real Madrid forward Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to reject an £18m move to Stuttgart in favour of a switch to White Hart Lane.

The 25-year-old Netherlands striker is surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu, just six months after joining the Spaniards, following the summer arrivals of Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.

Spurs are also reported to be close to agreeing a deal for Portsmouth and England forward Peter Crouch.
