Stoke sign striker Joselu
Stoke have announced the signing of Spanish striker Joselu from Hannover for eight million euros (£5.74million).
The 25-year-old German-born Spanish forward, who has previously played for Celta Vigo, Real Madrid B and Hoffenheim, becomes the Premier League club's third summer signing following defender Philipp Wollscheid and goalkeeper Jakob Haugaard.
Stoke manager Mark Hughes told the club's official website: " Joselu has an excellent pedigree and is a player we have been tracking for some time. He has skills and attributes that are different to what we already have within the squad but will complement the attacking players we already have at our disposal.
"Joselu is excited about testing himself in the Premier League and we're delighted to have him with us."
The club have not announced how long Joselu, who scored eight goals in 30 appearances for Hannover in the Bundesliga last season, will be remaining at the Britannia Stadium.
Joselu was pictured at the Potters' Clayton Wood training ground earlier on Tuesday and admitted he was delighted to fulfil a dream after completing his move to Stoke.
He said: "I'm so happy to have joined Stoke City; it's a dream for me to join a club like this and to play in the Premier League.
"To play in the Premier League has always been an ambition of mine. It is a fantastic league with great clubs, of which Stoke City is certainly one.
"I know there were other teams in Europe who wanted to sign me but once I had spoken to the people at Stoke I knew I wanted to come here and be a part of this club."
Joselu began his professional career with Celta Vigo but made the move to Real Madrid in 2009 before he was loaned back to his former club for the rest of that season.
He made his Primera Division debut in May 2011 for the Madrid giants as a substitute against UD Almeria and scored moments later to make it 8-1 to Real.
Joselu also impressed in a Copa del Rey appearance against SD Ponferradina before he switched to life in Germany the following summer where he joined Hoffenheim for an undisclosed fee and from there spent a season on loan with Eintracht Frankfurt - scoring 14 goals - before moving to Hanover last June.
He added: "I will now go back to Spain and then to Germany to collect my belongings and will return to Stoke on July 1 for the start of training.
"I'm really looking forward to it - I would start tomorrow if the club wanted me to."
Stoke confirmed Joselu had been allocated squad number 11 for next season and c hief executive Tony Scholes was pleased the Potters had sealed the deal on their man.
He sa id: "Joselu was one of our key summer targets and so I am delighted that we have been able to complete this deal.
"Despite offers from leading European clubs Joselu has decided to join Stoke City to fulfil his ambitions."
