Romelu Lukaku ended an 11-game Premier League drought in style with an 11-minute hat-trick as he fired Everton to a 3-0 victory at Sunderland.

The Belgium international netted 59th and 67th-minute headers and then completed his treble with 19 minutes remaining at the Stadium of Light to condemn former Toffees boss David Moyes, who lost his job as Manchester United manager after a defeat by the same opposition in April 2014, to a third defeat in four league outings so far this season.

Sunderland gave as good as they got before the break despite having to defend resiliently, but they were torn apart after it as Lukaku ran riot in front of a largely horrified crowd of 42,406.

TWEET OF THE MATCH

"Sunderland three goals down and still they sit off allowing Everton to take the p@£#!", Ex-West Ham and Wales defender Daniel Gabbidon (@Gabbidon35)

STAR MAN

Lukaku had not scored a league goal since March when he arrived on Wearside, but he left with the match ball having ended an 11-game drought in style with a clinical hat-trick.

MOMENT OF THE MATCH

If Lukaku had run out at the Stadium of Light lacking a little confidence, it had been fully restored by the time Kevin Mirallas played him through the heart of the Sunderland defence with 19 minutes remaining to complete his hat-trick, and his finish was that of a man who knew exactly what he was doing.

MORE IMPORTANT THAN FOOTBALL

One of Sunderland's mascot's on the night was five-year-old Bradley Lowery, whose family is trying to raise £700,000 to fund cancer treatment in the United States. The crowd sang "There's only one Bradley Lowery" in the fifth minute of the game and a banner carrying the message, "We're with you, Bradley" was carried around the stadium.
