Yossi Benayoun wishes Liverpool well
Yossi Benayoun has wished his former Liverpool team-mates well under Roy Hodgson but is focusing his own energies on getting fit for Chelsea.
Benayoun swapped Anfield for Stamford Bridge in a £6million summer move after relations with former Reds boss Rafael Benitez deteriorated to the point where he simply had to leave.
Upon signing for Chelsea, the Israel midfielder accused Benitez of “trying to destroy my confidence” but with Hodgson now at the Liverpool helm, Benayoun wishes the club well as the new season gets ready for the big kick-off.
“I had a great time there and it was a privilege to play at such a big club,” he said.
“Everyone knows all the problems at the club but hopefully they have started anew. I wish them all the best.
“I trained with the Chelsea first team then I injured my groin and rested for a week.
“I came back only a few days ago and I'm sure I'll be fit in a few days.”
