Arsenal chase De Rossi
Friday, 31 July 2009
Arsene Wenger's preferred midfield target this summer is the Roma and Italy midfielder Daniele De Rossi, although it would take a dramatic downturn in Roma's perilous financial position for the player to be sold.
Like Liverpool's pursuit of De Rossi's team-mate Alberto Aquilani, the player's future is bound up with financial issues at the club and the long-term plans of the Sensi family who own it. De Rossi, 26, is regarded as the club's most important player behind Francisco Totti and would command a transfer fee of around £30m, a record for Arsenal.
The suggestion that Wenger is prepared to bring his former captain Patrick Vieira back to the club has been privately dismissed although it would now appear that the Internazionale player has decided against a move to Arsenal's rivals Tottenham.
Vieira had expressed a willingness last month to go ahead with the move but he has since changed his mind.
De Rossi is the kind of combative midfielder that Arsenal have lacked since the departure of Mathieu Flamini, albeit a much more sought-after version than the French player.

arsenal will only buy a youngster with a lack of experience, low price, and ready to paid with a low salary, the mission is good, want to be like manu in some years ago, i also have an idea like that, but after we sell flamini, adebayor, toure, the big question is that "does wenger really want to build a good squad?" as he said before that the most important thing is to keep our squad and if we need a new player, we will bring in one or two quality player. but now, okay,he bought arshavin (the only quality signing) and he released two (adebayor n toure),so we need to buy at least two quality players, one to replace ade (i see vermaelen as toure's replacement) and one more to pay his promise

like any Arsenal supporter we all know that Arsene will never spend that kind of money on one player, not now and not in this life

Let wenger buy two players to strenthen his squad! you can`t sell to players as coach and you keep quiet, it makes no sense however strong the club may be.

What a ridiculous story. The kind of one I would expect to see on some idiot's blog.

I dont know what your sources are but Wenger has said his squad is strong enough even without any additions. And that the solution (as he will often say) is not in new sigings but in believing in the players you have already. Honestly, if this happens(at 30m) we'll win it all, yes?

Absoloutely no way will Arsenal spend £30m on one player, not in a million years.
