US investors discuss possible Newcastle purchase

American investors have held informal talks with Newcastle United about the possibility of buying the club.
A New York-based private equity fund is understood to have spoken to representatives of Magpies owner Mike Ashley.
One report, however, says the deal is already dead following Ashley's decision to slap a €420m price tag on the club.
