David Healy set to join Coventry
Tuesday, 22 September 2009
David Healy’s Sunderland nightmare is coming to an end with Coventry City ready to seal a deal for the Northern Ireland talisman.
The 30-year-old, who has been starved of first team action at the Stadium of Light, is poised to make a loan move to the Sky Blues.
If the deal goes through, the Killyleagh man will link up with his international team-mate Sammy Clingan at the Championship club.
Healy has made only one appearance for the Black Cats this season — in the Carling Cup win at Norwich City.
Sky Blues boss Chris Coleman is now hoping the striker can reignite his career at the Ricoh Arena.

"Lots of other players would not move to a lower league and take a cut in their salary."
Won't this be the second time he's had to drop down to find his level?

It might not be too long until he is playing 'local football'. He has never proven himself at club level in England, I don't imagine Coventry will be much different.
Whil I admire his goal scoring escapades for N.I., his club record speaks for itself. If teams are picked fairly, unless Healy starts regularly (and scores) for a club, he should not get into the N.I. team.

Good to see Sir David make a sensible move. Lots of other players would not move to a lower league and take a cut in their salary. The sooner the wee man is banging the goals in for club and country the better. I was hoping he would have maybve accepted a loan move to local football for a bit. This could have given local football a much needed boost. Hopefully his international goal famine will soon be over as well.
