Sporting chance suits me: Caicedo
Friday, 24 July 2009
Felipe Caicedo has moved on in search of a fresh start with Sporting Lisbon after conceding that dropping down the pecking order at Manchester City is a battle beyond him.
The summer arrivals of Emmanuel Adebayor, Carlos Tevez and Roque Santa Cruz meant the Ecuador striker's first-team chances were limited and have allowed the 20-year-old to join Sporting on a season-long loan.
“My objective is to play and to demonstrate that I can triumph in Europe,” said Caicedo.
“City have many forwards who have arrived this summer and they have complicated my presence. For me it is difficult to get in the team at City and the opportunity to go to Sporting is a personal challenge to me..”
Young striker Ched Evans is also on the verge of a permanent move to Championship side Sheffield United it still leaves Mark Hughes with seven forwards to choose from. Robinho, Craig Bellamy, Valeri Bojinov and Benjani are the others.
