Wenger happy for Adebayor to play

Saturday, 28 March 2009

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has "no problem" with Emmanuel Adebayor playing for Togo — and feels it would be good for the striker to get a game.

The 25-year-old has been out since the start of February with a hamstring injury and was not scheduled to back in action for the Gunners until after the international break.

However, Adebayor travelled to Africa ahead of today's World Cup qualifier against Cameroon.

"Adebayor has gone away with Togo. Will he play or not? For us, he was ready to play," said Wenger.

"It is good for him to have a game. There is no problem. I had a meeting with their manager and we knew he would be ready this weekend."
