Wigan refund fans after nine-goal drubbing
Tuesday, 24 November 2009
Wigan Athletic have announced that their players have decided to personally refund every Latics fan who bought a ticket from the DW Stadium for the match against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
The Latics had a sizeable following at White Hart Lane and skipper Mario Melchiot, speaking on behalf of all the players, said last night: “We feel that as a group of players we badly let down our supporters , and this is a gesture we HAVE TO make and pay them back for their tremendous loyalty.
The club has confirmed that every supporter who bought a ticket from the DW Stadium for the game on Sunday should contact the ticket office, either in person or by phoning 0871 33 66 552, and a full refund will be posted to their home address.
Refunds must be claimed on or before Friday December 4 2009.

getting duffed 9 doesn't happen that often in a footballers career, I wouldn't imagine it'd happen more than once to a professional. If the team kept getting beat by big margins I imagine they wouldn't have many fans to compensate after a while.
Reasonable gesture by the players.

Amazing decision, more players should be as honest about their shortcomings.
