Former Northern Ireland manager Sammy McIlroy is hoping to deliver a Carling Cup treble tonight.

Already McIlroy has guided League Two outfit Morecambe to shock victories over Championship sides Preston and Wolves.

And this evening the hat-trick is on with Sheffield United the opposition in the third round of the competition.

McIlroy says his team are relishing the trip to Bramall Lane.

He says: "We are going there to enjoy it. Nobody gave us much hope against Preston or Wolves but look what happened. We will give it our best shot and see what happens."

McIlroy's men may come up against a Brazilian hero tonight with former Inter Milan and Parma midfielder Ze Maria, who won 40 caps, poised to make his debut for the Blades.

The match sees McIlroy come face to face with another former Manchester United hero in the shape of Bramall Lane boss Bryan Robson.

Elsewhere in the Carling Cup tonight Arsenal face Newcastle, Manchester City host Norwich, Burnley entertain Portsmouth, Luton meet Charlton, Blackpool face Southend and West Brom play Cardiff.
