Celtic do not need fresh faces, says Rogne

Friday, 13 January 2012

Thomas Rogne does not believe the Celtic squad needs any more strengthening ahead of their quest to wrestle the Clydesdale Bank Premier League title back from Rangers.

Sweden international defender Mikael Lustig joined the Hoops on January 1, and manager Neil Lennon has been linked with numerous other players.

Speculation continues about possible new recruits including Rapid Vienna striker Hamdi Salihim, while Nigerian midfielder Rabiu Ibrahim, 20, and Icelandic winger Ingolfur Sigurdsson, 18, played as trialists in a practice game against St Johnstone this week. But ahead of tomorrow's SPL match against Dundee United at Parkhead, Rogne said: “What happens in the transfer window is up to the manager and if someone comes in then great.

“But I think we have a very good squad and we don't really need any new players.

“I don't think we are desperate to sign new players but we will see what happens. It is important that we keep players and I think every player wants to stay.”

Gary Neville could be key to Wayne Rooney's form at Euros

You might have thought that ruling yourself out of the first two games of football's second most important international tournament with a shocking flash of irresponsibility was quite enough to focus the mind of the nation's most gifted player.

Billy on the Box: DD’s big pair puts on blue show in Bavaria

What an epic battle the Champions League Final turned out to be. A clash between an organisation with a long and distinguished history, respected by friend and foe alike up against a relative newcomer, the plaything of a foreign oligarch, who is universally viewed with raised eyebrows.
