Speculation: Ryan Giggs

On the day that Ronny Deila was forced to field questions in response to the Belfast Telegraph's revelation that Northern Ireland boss Michael O'Neill was in the running to take his job, the uncertainty over his future as Celtic manager increased.

Rumours that Manchester United assistant manager Ryan Giggs was about to be named as Parkhead boss surfaced after he missed the Reds Devils' 3-0 win over Stoke before being quashed when the club confirmed his absence was due to a family illness.

The Belfast Telegraph revealed yesterday that O'Neill will be in the mix for the Celtic job in the summer when Deila is expected to be sacked.

The Norwegian, whose future is in serious doubt after Sunday's Scottish League Cup semi-final defeat to Ross County, palmed off the link by simply saying: "Speculation is speculation."
