Lustig targets treble delight after penning new Hoops deal

Mikael Lustig admitted signing a contract extension with Celtic was one of the easiest decisions he has made.

The Sweden right-back has penned a two-year extension which ties him to the club until May 2019.

The 30-year-old was entering the final year of his contract when Brendan Rodgers took over in the summer but soon convinced the Celtic boss that he should be part of his long-term plans.

Lustig has made 166 appearances in five seasons at Parkhead and has been back to his best this season following injury problems during Ronny Deila's spell in charge.

"I've been here for a long time and I really enjoy my life here and playing for Celtic," he said. "I'm really happy. I'm still hungry for more and I love being here.

"We've started really well in the first six months under the new manager and staff so that's why it was an easy thing for me to do. Celtic is growing and getting better every season now and I want to be a part of it.

"We have a chance to take the treble now and we've obviously not done that yet, but everyone wants to just continue to develop as a team, continue to play against good sides and learn."
